We knit this sweater with a wide, boxy body and dropped shoulders that fall into deep batwing sleeves. The mock neck stands upright on its own without folding over. Below the elbow, the sleeve transitions into long ribbed cuffs that hold the lower arm close. The hem hangs straight and loose around the hip line.

What we would tell you in the studio
- Chunky body knit. The body is worked in a heavy gauge stitch that holds structure away from the torso. It provides dense coverage against cool air while maintaining a relaxed, slouchy hang through the chest and back.
- Ribbed mock neck. The collar is ribbed to stand lightly against the throat. Because it sits as a mock neck, it keeps its shape through a full day of wear without rolling down or needing adjustment.
- Extended forearm cuff. We started the batwing taper wide at the dropped shoulder and pulled the sleeve in below the elbow with dense ribbing. The long cuff keeps the excess fabric anchored neatly at the wrist.
- Apricot yarn tone. This apricot shade is a muted, warm neutral with soft peach undertones. It wears well over dark denim, thick cotton leggings, or layered beneath open wool coats and utility jackets.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
