What we would tell you in the studio
- Crew neckline. The collar is a simple round band knitted to stay flat against the base of the neck. It slips easily under heavier outerwear without bunching up or pulling at the throat.
- Shorter body hem. The hem lands short on the torso to pair directly with high-waisted skirts and denim. Fine ribbing along the bottom edge holds the knit close to the hips.
- Tapered long sleeves. Long sleeves follow the line of the arm without excess fabric. The rib-knit cuffs stay put when pushed up toward the elbows during the day.
- Yarn and laundering. We use a soft synthetic yarn blend that gives the knit light stretch and recovery. Machine wash cold with like colors and spread flat on a drying rack to preserve the shape.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
