What we would tell you in the studio
- Crew neckline. The neckband is ribbed to hold its shape close to the throat. It layers neatly beneath heavier winter coats or sits clean over a thin collared shirt.
- Cropped hemline. The body ends short at the waist. We knit the lower edge with a fine rib that keeps the line tidy without gripping too tight.
- Sleeve and cuff. Long sleeves run straight down the arm into narrow ribbed cuffs. The yarn has enough give to push the sleeves up past the wrist when needed.
- Cold wash care. Machine wash cold with like colours on a gentle cycle. Lay the piece flat on a towel to dry so the knit retains its original length and shape.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
