What we would tell you in the studio
- Cascading open front. The front panels fall without buttons, snaps, or zips to break the line. They create a soft drape that stays open while you move, resting lightly over your base layers.
- Fine stretch knit. We chose a lightweight yarn blend with a fine gauge and a marled blue finish. It yields plenty of crosswise give so the shoulders and back move easily without pulling.
- Front patch pockets. Two flat patch pockets sit square on the lower front panels. They are set low for quick access to keys or a phone without dragging the hem out of shape.
- Washing and care. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle inside a mesh laundry bag to protect the fine knit. Lay the cardigan flat on a towel to dry so the open front keeps its line.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
