What we would tell you in the studio
- Open draped front. We left off all buttons and zips so the front panels hang freely. The lapels fold back on their own, giving you an open layer that stays loose over tees and camisoles.
- Fine marled knit. The dark grey yarn is spun with stretch for flexibility across the shoulders and back. It feels smooth against bare arms and has enough weight to keep the long panels falling straight.
- Twin patch pockets. Two flat pockets sit on the lower front panels. We knit them deep enough for small essentials, placed low so they do not interrupt the vertical line of the open front.
- Washing and care. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle inside a mesh laundry bag. Lay the knit flat on a towel to dry so the open panels and hem keep their shape over time.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
