What we would tell you in the studio
- Roomy body cut. The straight shape sits well away from the torso. It gives you space to move without pulling across the shoulders, and the lower hem falls near the hips to pair easily over denim or woven trousers.
- Classic crew neckline. A plain round neck finishes the top edge. The ribbed collar band holds its flat circle against the collarbone without stretching out of shape when pulled over your head.
- Brushed yarn hand. We chose a blended yarn with added stretch for a soft, fuzzy texture that resists surface pilling. The knit stays light against the skin while holding enough body to keep its drape.
- Laundering and care. Wash by hand or run on a gentle machine cycle inside a mesh laundry bag to protect the knit face. Reshape the sweater while damp and dry it flat on a towel.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
