What we would tell you in the studio
- Crew neckline. The neck opening is finished with a neat round band that rests flat against the collarbone. It pulls on easily and stays clear of the throat for everyday layering over shirts.
- Roomy body cut. We shaped the body with extra width through the chest and waist, letting the fabric drape freely. The hem falls low to provide full coverage over trousers, denim, or knit skirts.
- Long straight sleeves. The sleeves are knitted long to bunch slightly at the wrist. The soft yarn allows the arms to move without pulling at the shoulder seams or tightening across the upper arm.
- Washing and care. Hand wash in cool water or use a gentle machine cycle with a mesh laundry bag. Lay the sweater flat on a towel to dry so the wet knit keeps its original shape.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
