What we would tell you in the studio

  • High mock collar. The neck stands upright in a tidy rib that holds its shape without pressing tight against the throat. It keeps cold drafts out while leaving room to move your chin freely.
  • Lantern sleeve shape. Each sleeve widens through the arm before pulling back in at the ribbed wrist. The extra fabric gathers over the forearm to create a curved profile that stays put when pushed up.
  • Roomy straight hang. We cut the body wide so the knit drops straight down from the shoulders rather than hugging the waist. The hem finishes high on the leg, making it easy to wear over tights or thick socks.
  • Yarn and wash care. The brown yarn has a soft, smooth hand that feels gentle against bare skin. Hand wash in cold water with mild detergent and lay the dress flat on a clean towel to dry.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
