Women 2 Piece Winter Turleneck Sweater Matching Lounge Sets

We knit both halves of this set from the same light grey ribbed yarn so the gauge and dye match across top and bottom. The sweater hangs loose from dropped raglan shoulders into a folded high neck. Down below, the wide-leg trousers pull on with an elastic waist cord.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Ribbed turtleneck collar. The high neck is knitted in a continuous rib that folds over neatly or stands upright without squeezing the throat. It gives full coverage through colder months while holding its shape through repeated wear.
  • Dropped raglan sleeve. We shaped the long sleeves with a low raglan line that angles down from the collar. The roomy cut lets the sweater hang away from the torso and leaves plenty of space for an undershirt.
  • Drawstring wide trousers. The pants fall straight from an elastic waistband threaded with a knitted tie. Because the ribbed fabric has natural stretch, the legs drape straight down to the hem without clinging to the knee.
  • Washing the set. Hand wash both pieces together in cool water using a gentle wool detergent to keep the light grey tone uniform. Press out excess water flat between towels and dry across a rack out of direct sun.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
