What we would tell you in the studio
- Cable and eyelet gauge. The body alternates vertical cable twists with open eyelet stitches. That combination gives the armygreen knit visible texture and a lighter feel than solid rope cables, letting air move through the fabric.
- Crew neck and buttons. A tidy round neckline rests close without pulling. Sturdy front buttons run the full length of the placket, so you can fasten it completely or leave it open over a base layer.
- Sleeve and lower hem. The sleeves run long, tapering slightly into ribbed cuffs that stay put when pushed up. Down below, the hem falls with enough clearance to layer over trousers without bunching.
- Washing and drying. Hand wash in cold water with mild soap to protect the open eyelet holes. Press out extra water with a flat towel and dry it flat on a rack instead of hanging.

- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
