What we would tell you in the studio
- Knit structure and drape. We chose a fine-gauge knit that stays flat against the body. The fabric holds its shape through the back and falls straight along the sides without clinging.
- Open front and band. A wide band borders the open front to keep the edges from rolling inward. It creates clean vertical lines down the torso that stay put as you move.
- Patch pocket details. Two patch pockets sit flat at hand height on the lower front panels. We knit them into the body so they hold small items without sagging open.
- Washing and care. Hand wash in cold water with gentle soap to protect the yarn hand. Lay the cardigan flat on a dry towel away from heat rather than hanging it.

- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
