What we would tell you in the studio
- Knit and yarn hand. The blue yarn is spun for a smooth, soft surface that feels supple against bare arms. It has enough substance to hang without clinging, yet packs down small in a bag without gathering deep creases.
- Open front and pockets. We gave the front a broad knitted border that runs all the way down to the hem. Two functional patch pockets are set flat onto the lower panels to carry keys or warm your hands.
- Length and drape. The body is cut loose and hangs away from the torso down toward mid-thigh. It moves freely as you walk, staying open over basic cotton tees, thin knits, or woven button-downs.
- Washing and care. Wash on a gentle cycle in cold water inside a mesh laundry bag. Lay the knit flat on a dry towel to dry so the long body and open front keep their shape.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
