What we would tell you in the studio
- Ribbed stitch structure. The vertical rib gives this knit natural mechanical recovery, letting the fabric stretch around the frame and pull back into shape. It yields a clean, compact surface that layers smoothly under jackets.
- Crew neck and cropped hem. A banded round collar sits flat at the base of the neck. The lower edge is finished cleanly and ends high on the waist, matching well with high-rise skirts or trousers.
- Full length sleeves. The sleeves are knitted straight down the arm to sit snug at the wrists. Because the gauge is fine, the sleeves slide easily into coat arms without bunching at the elbows.
- Hand wash care. Submerge this knit in cold water with a gentle detergent and press out the excess water in a towel. Lay it flat on a drying rack away from direct heat to protect the elasticity of the rib.

- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
