What we would tell you in the studio
- V-neck and button front. The neckline cuts into a moderate V that meets a column of faux tortoiseshell buttons down the center placket. We include a spare button attached to the care tag. Ribbed binding reinforces the edges so the front stays flat.
- Armhole and shoulder line. We shaped the armholes to sit close without binding or gapping. The shoulder band is cut wide enough to sit flush against the skin, making it easy to wear by itself or layered over a collared cotton shirt.
- Cropped straight hem. The body falls in a straight line from the bust to the high hip. A wide ribbed hem bands the bottom edge, giving the knit enough weight to anchor the hemline over high-rise trousers and skirts.
- Yarn texture and washing. Knitted from an opaque, smooth-spun yarn in a soft apricot shade that stays soft to the touch. Hand wash cold or use a mesh bag on a gentle cycle. Lay flat on a drying rack to preserve the original shape.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
