What we would tell you in the studio
- Tight gauge knit. A smooth, opaque yarn gives the body a substantial weight and clean structure. It sits soft against bare skin and holds its straight line throughout the day.
- V-neck and button front. The V-neck placket fastens with a row of tortoiseshell buttons, reinforced by tidy ribbing. We knit the armholes to fit close without gaping.
- Shorter ribbed hem. The lower edge finishes in a fine rib that sits square at the hip. It rests easily over high-rise trousers, denim, or woven cotton shirts.
- Cold water care. Hand wash in cold water or run on a gentle machine cycle inside a mesh laundry bag. Lay the knit flat on a towel to dry so the shape remains true.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
