Lounge Sets Womens 2 Piece Matching

We knit this two-piece lounge set as a matching pair in soft apricot yarn. The crewneck sweater sits away from the torso with dropped shoulder seams and side slits at the hem, while the wide-leg trousers pull on with an elastic waist. Both pieces share the same smooth gauge and fluid drape.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crewneck and dropped shoulder. A plain round crew neck finishes the top cleanly. The dropped shoulder seams set the long sleeves low on the arm, letting the knit hang straight and loose across the chest.
  • Side-slit hem. The sweater hem lands around the hip with open slits on each side. These breaks keep the lower edge from bunching over the waistband of the wide-leg trousers.
  • Wide-leg knit trousers. The trousers are knitted with a wide, straight leg from the elastic waist down to the hem. The yarn holds enough weight to fall straight without clinging to the legs.
  • Washing and flat drying. Wash this set in cold water on a gentle machine cycle with mild soap, or wash it by hand. Press out extra moisture with a towel and dry both pieces flat on a rack.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
