What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crewneck top and trim. The sweater has a plain round neck and long sleeves that taper softly at the cuffs. Side slits along the hip-length hem give the fabric room to drape when you sit.
  • Wide leg knit trousers. We built the bottoms with a flat elastic waistband that stays flat against the waist. The legs are knitted wide and straight from hip to hem for ease of movement.
  • Light tan yarn. This knit uses a blend that feels smooth and soft against bare skin. The light tan shade is knitted from a single dye lot across both top and bottom so the two pieces match.
  • Washing and shape care. Hand wash the set in cold water or use a gentle cycle with mild detergent. Lay both pieces flat on a clean towel to dry so the knit retains its length.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
