Vest Tops for Women Striped Sweater Vests
We knit this sleeveless piece with a straight cut that hangs free from the body without billowing out. Horizontal bands of apricot and coffee run across the front and back panels. The v-neckline descends to a buttoned placket, while the back features an open cutout detail. It sits easily at the hip over trousers or collared shirts.

What we would tell you in the studio
- Striped stitch work. The knit uses fine-gauge stitches in alternating stripes of soft apricot and deep coffee brown. The surface is smooth and light to the touch, offering moderate natural give across the chest and waist without stretching out of shape.
- V-neck and button placket. An open v-neck leads down into a functional front button row. The bands along the neckline and placket are finished with tidy edge stitches that keep the opening flat against the collarbone and sternum.
- Open back detail. Cutout styling at the upper back breaks up the horizontal stripe pattern. This open section allows extra airflow during warm weather, while the straight sleeveless armholes leave plenty of room to layer over a woven shirt.
- Care and maintenance. Wash by hand in cool water or have it dry cleaned to keep the stripes crisp and the buttons secure. Press out excess water with a towel and dry flat on a rack so the hemline does not stretch.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
