What we would tell you in the studio
- V-neck and button front. The front closes with a neat line of buttons running down from a clean V-neck. You can wear it fully fastened over bare skin or unbuttoned over a collared cotton shirt.
- Open back detail. The back panel splits into an open cutout that breaks the horizontal striping. It leaves room for airflow and shows whatever base layer you choose to wear underneath.
- Straight sleeveless cut. We kept the armholes cleanly banded and dropped the sides in a straight line to the hip. The knit rests flat across the body without clinging at the waist or flaring at the base.
- Yarn hand and care. The viscose blend yarn feels cool and smooth against the skin. Wash by hand in cold water or dry clean, then press out excess moisture with a towel and dry flat on a rack.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
