What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crewneck top cut. The upper piece is knitted with a plain round neckline and long sleeves. It falls straight through the body to rest near the hip, keeping clear of clinging or excess fabric.
  • Wide leg trouser. The pants drop straight from the hips into a wide, open leg. A knitted elastic waistband secures the fit, supported by a workable drawstring dyed to match the knit.
  • Rayon blend yarn. We use a lightweight rayon blend yarn that feels cool and smooth against bare skin. The knit carries enough weight to drape downward while holding its shape across hours of wear.
  • Washing and care. Machine wash cold inside a mesh laundry bag to protect the stitch work. Tumble dry on low heat, or lay both pieces flat on a clean towel so the hems dry straight.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
