What we would tell you in the studio
- Roomy button front. The body is cut wide through the torso and hangs straight to the hem without pulling tight. You can fasten the buttons all the way up to the collar or leave them open as a top layer.
- Brushed yarn hand. We blended the yarn with stretch and brushed the surface for a plush texture. It holds warmth while remaining soft to the touch, avoiding the scratch of rougher wools.
- Crew neck trim. A classic round crew neck sits close to the base of the throat. The bound edge keeps its shape through regular wear and matches the clean line along the button placket.
- Washing and drying. Hand wash in cold water or use a gentle machine cycle. Reshape the piece and dry it flat on a clean towel so the knit does not stretch out of shape on a hanger.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
