What we would tell you in the studio

  • Ribbed knit texture. Vertical ribs run the length of both pieces, giving the knit a fine texture and plenty of give. The yarn feels smooth against the skin and recovers its shape after a full day of wear.
  • Crew neck cut. The neckline is a plain round crew that sits flat against the collarbone without pulling. We finished the band with tight ribbing so it holds its shape through regular wash cycles.
  • Roomy hanging fit. The top drops straight to the hip and hangs away from the torso rather than hugging it. Wide-cut legs continue that loose drape down to the bottom hems for easy movement.
  • Washing and care. Machine wash this set on a gentle cycle in cold water with similar darks, or hand wash it in a basin. Lay both pieces flat on a rack to dry so the ribbing does not stretch.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
