What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crewneck and drape. The top hangs away from the body with a wide cut and dropped shoulders. Side slits let the hem fall easily over the hips without bunching or catching when you sit.
  • Fitted pocket shorts. We knit the shorts with plenty of stretch to keep their shape close to the leg. A flat pocket sits along the outer seam to hold small items without sagging.
  • Coffee shade. Dyed as a single batch, both pieces share the exact same deep coffee brown tone. The colour stays even across the smooth surface of the fine gauge knit.
  • Laundering the set. Wash both pieces together in cool water on a gentle cycle to keep the dye consistent. Lay them flat to dry so the knit retains its shape and elasticity.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
