What we would tell you in the studio

  • Merino blend yarn. The yarn blends fine merino wool with smooth synthetic fibres to give you lightweight warmth without weight or scratch. It feels soft against bare skin and keeps its shape well after repeated wear.
  • The mock neckline. We set the neck high without the turn-back bulk of a full roll collar. Ribbing along the collar holds its shape around the throat without pressing, blocking cool drafts while staying comfortable all day.
  • Cut and drape. The body is cut wide and straight, hanging free from the shoulders down to an extended hem. Ribbed cuffs gather the long sleeves slightly at the wrists, balancing the relaxed drape through the torso.
  • Washing and care. Hand wash in cold water or run on a gentle machine cycle inside a mesh laundry bag. Never tumble dry this wool blend; press out excess water and lay it flat to dry.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
