What we would tell you in the studio
- High neck construction. The ribbed turtleneck stands tall on its own, with enough stretch to pull easily over the head. It folds down cleanly and stays close to the neck to keep cold air out without binding.
- Batwing sleeve shape. We drop the armholes low on the body for a relaxed drape through the upper chest and shoulders. The sleeves narrow into ribbed cuffs at the wrists, keeping the extra knit from sliding down over the hands.
- Split lower hem. The hem finishes with side vents that break up the straight line of the skirt. This keeps the knit from catching around the knees when you walk, sit, or layer it over heavier winter trousers.
- Care and washing. Wash on a low temperature setting inside a mesh laundry bag, or hand wash in cool water. Lay the dress flat across a towel to dry so the heavy wet knit does not pull the shoulders out of shape.

- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
