Womens Spring Short Sleeve Sweater Shirts Tops Summer

We knit this short-sleeve top in a light cotton gauge with horizontal stripes across the chest and body. The cut sits roomy through the torso and hangs straight down to a shortened hem. It pairs easily with high-waisted knit skirts and wide trousers.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crew neck and pocket. A simple round crewneck band sits flat against the collarbone. We added a single knit patch pocket at the chest that matches the horizontal stripe run.
  • Sleeve and shoulder. The short sleeves are cut wide at the armhole to leave room for movement. Fine ribbing trims each cuff so the opening keeps its shape over time.
  • Short boxy hem. The bottom edge lands high and straight across the waistline. Because it sits away from the hips, you can wear it loose over trousers or tuck the front into a knit skirt band.
  • Cotton wash care. Hand wash in cold water or run on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent. Press excess moisture out with a towel and lay the knit flat to dry so the stripe blocks stay square.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
