Womens Spring Short Sleeve Sweater Shirts Tops Summer

We knit this crewneck from lightweight cotton yarn with broad horizontal stripes. The body sits wide and hangs straight, ending in a shortened hem that meets high-rise knit trousers cleanly. Short sleeves and banded ribs keep the profile neat through warm weather.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Cotton gauge and stripe. The fine cotton yarn gives this knit a flat, smooth face that feels light against bare skin. We knit the black and rust stripes directly into the piece so the surface remains soft across every colour break.
  • Crew neckline and pocket. A compact ribbed collar rings the round crewneck so it stays flat against the collarbone without stretching out. We added a single knit patch pocket at the chest that lines up against the horizontal stripe sequence.
  • Cropped boxy cut. The body drops straight from the shoulders without side shaping, leaving ample room through the torso. It falls to a shortened hem that rests near the waistband rather than clinging to the hips.
  • Washing and shape care. Hand wash in cold water or run on a gentle cycle with a mild wool detergent. Lay the top flat across a mesh rack to dry so the cotton knit maintains its square hem and sleeve ribs.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
