What we would tell you in the studio
- Stand collar henley. The neck sits upright as a mock collar or folds open when you undo the button placket. Ribbing along the collar band holds its line against the throat without collapsing.
- Sleeve and cuff buttons. The sleeves are cut with extra room through the arm and gather into long ribbed cuffs. We added matching buttons along each wrist to secure the taper against the arm.
- Roomy straight drape. The body is knitted with a generous width that drops cleanly from the shoulders. It falls down past the waist without clinging, giving you space to wear a base tee underneath.
- Care for this knit. Wash on a gentle cycle inside out with like colours and cold water. Lay the sweater flat across a drying rack so the weight of the damp yarn does not pull the hem out of shape.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
