What we would tell you in the studio
- Buttoned stand collar. The high neck is finished in a firm rib with a button front. You can fasten it all the way up against a draft or leave a few buttons open to sit flat across the collarbone.
- Ribbed button cuffs. Long sleeves end in wide ribbed cuffs trimmed with small matching buttons. The ribbing grips the wrist lightly so the sleeve holds its place if you push it up your forearm.
- Soft grey knit. We chose a medium yarn blend with natural stretch that rests smooth against bare skin. The grey tone is neutral and shows the clean stitch definition across the body.
- Washing and drying. Hand wash in cold water with mild wool detergent to protect the knit structure. Press the excess water out in a clean towel, then dry flat away from direct heat to preserve the shape.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
