What we would tell you in the studio
- Waffle stitch body. The chunky waffle stitch gives the fabric a squared, three-dimensional face. It adds weight so the long panels hang straight rather than clinging, while ribbed borders finish the opening, cuffs, and lower hem.
- Roomy open cut. We shaped the body with dropped shoulders and a wide, unfastened front. The knit clears the hips and falls down near the ankle, leaving plenty of space inside the sleeves and torso for cold-weather layers.
- Apricot yarn blend. The yarn mixes smooth viscose with synthetic fibres to keep the long ribs springy and soft against bare arms. Apricot is a warm, pale peach that pairs quietly with raw denim, off-white knits, or dark wool trousers.
- Washing and shape. Hand wash this cardigan in cold water without twisting the wet panels. Press the excess water out between flat towels, reshape the body, and lay it flat to dry so the long waffle knit keeps its original length.

- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
