What we would tell you in the studio
- Chunky waffle texture. The surface is built from a raised waffle knit that traps air and gives the open front body. It stays thick in the hand without turning rigid, allowing the front panels to drape straight down while you walk.
- Roomy open cut. We gave this piece dropped shoulders and wide sleeves so it sits clear of your base layers. You can pull it over a heavy long-sleeve tee or a fine-gauge knit without the armholes bunching or binding.
- Long ribbed edges. The cuffs and bottom hem finish in wide ribbing. That tighter stitch keeps the wrist close so the sleeve stays put, and weights the low edge so the hem hangs evenly near the lower leg.
- Cold wash and flat dry. Wash this duster by hand in cool water and press the moisture out in a clean towel without twisting the yarn. Lay it flat on a drying rack so the heavy waffle pattern does not stretch lengthwise.

- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
