Women 2 Piece Matching Short Set Summer Outfit

We knit this warm-weather set from soft cotton yarn in a pale neutral beige. The top hangs wide and loose through the body with short sleeves and a buttoned neckline, while the matching knit shorts finish with side pockets and a drawstring waist. Both pieces share the same yarn gauge for an even drape.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Four-button neckline. The front opening runs with four matching buttons down a deep v-neck. You can fasten them high toward the collarbone or leave several unfastened to let the collar spread open across the shoulders.
  • Knit shorts construction. We built the bottoms with an adjustable cord through the ribbed waistband to adjust the tension. Two deep side pockets sit flat against the hip without stretching out the side seam.
  • Airy cotton hand. The cotton-rich yarn has a dry, light feel directly against bare skin. It stays soft in warm weather without clinging, giving the cropped cut plenty of movement as you walk.
  • Wash and lay flat. Machine wash both pieces together on a gentle cycle so the beige tone stays matched across wearings. Lay them flat on a towel away from direct sun to keep the knit blocks square.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
