What we would tell you in the studio

  • Buttoned v-neckline. The top opens at the front with four buttons along the placket. Fastening every button closes the neckline higher on the collarbone, while leaving them undone lets the collar spread wide across the chest.
  • Drawstring waistband and pockets. We knit the shorts with an adjustable drawstring threaded through the waist casing so you can reset the hold as the yarn relaxes. Two side pockets are knit flat into the side seams to carry everyday items.
  • Lightweight green knit. The knit uses a soft yarn with a loose tension that keeps the set light in warmer weather. The top hangs wide through the body, and the matching shorts finish with a clean, flat hem.
  • Care and maintenance. Machine wash on a gentle cycle in cold water or dry clean. We suggest laying both the top and the shorts flat on a dry towel to preserve the shape of the ribbing and avoid stretching.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
