What we would tell you in the studio

  • Buttoned v neck. Four buttons adjust the depth of the front v neck. You can fasten the placket fully or leave it unbuttoned to widen the collar line across warm days.
  • Loose short top. The short-sleeved top sits wide across the shoulders and hangs away from the torso. Its cropped hem rests naturally over the waistband without bunching up.
  • Drawstring knit shorts. We knit the matching shorts with an elasticated waistband and an adjustable front tie. Two deep side pockets sit flat against the hip without breaking the line.
  • Washing and care. Machine wash the top and shorts together in cool water on a gentle cycle, or dry clean them. Lay both pieces flat on a towel to dry.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
