What we would tell you in the studio
- V-neck and smocked bodice. The open V-neck sits above a stretchy smocked bodice that holds close to the torso before releasing into the lower skirt. Ruffle trim runs along the neckline edge.
- Flutter sleeve volume. Short flutter sleeves drape loosely off the shoulders, cut wide to let air move through. The open shape balances the closer fit of the smocked chest panel.
- Lined skirt and side pockets. The straight-falling skirt finishes well above the knee. We added an inner lining layer for full coverage, along with deep side pockets set directly into the seams.
- Care and maintenance. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle inside a mesh laundry bag to protect the ruffles and smocking. Reshape while damp and hang or lay flat to dry.

Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
