What we would tell you in the studio
- Smocked bodice construction. The upper body uses elasticated smocking to give give and recovery without feeling stiff. It transitions directly into an open V-neckline framed with a small ruffle edge.
- Flutter sleeve cut. The short sleeves are cut wide to create a light flutter shape off the shoulder. They stay loose around the arm without gathering or elastic at the lower edge.
- Lined skirt with pockets. We lined the skirt section to keep the outer red fabric moving freely without turning sheer in bright light. Deep side pockets are sewn straight into the side seams.
- Cold wash and care. Wash on a gentle cycle in cold water to keep the red shade clear and protect the smocking threads. Reshape the flutter sleeves by hand and lay flat to dry.

Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
