What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crewneck and shoulder buttons. The round crew collar keeps a clean line across the collarbone. We placed small button details along the shoulder line to break up the smooth expanse of the knit.
  • Straight cropped cut. The body hangs straight from the underarm to a cropped hemline. It provides room across the torso without excess volume, pairing cleanly over high-waisted bottoms.
  • Lightweight stretch yarn. Knitted with added stretch for flexibility, the fabric feels smooth against bare skin. It holds its shape through regular movement while remaining light enough to sit under a heavier jacket.
  • Washing and care. Machine wash cold inside a mesh laundry bag to protect the shoulder buttons from snagging. Reshape the knit while damp and lay it flat to dry instead of hanging.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
