Womens Long Sleeve Shirts Casual Dressy Tops Lightweight Clothes

We knit this long-sleeve top with shoulder buttons set into the neck seam. The cut runs straight through the torso, neither clinging to the waist nor billing out. It finishes in a short hem that pairs easily with higher-rise trousers or skirts.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crewneck and shoulder buttons. The rounded crewneck sits flat against the collarbone. We placed a short row of buttons along the shoulder line, giving the neck seam structure without pulling at the collar.
  • Straight cut and short hem. The torso drops straight down from the underarms to a cropped hem. Because it lands high, the knit sits clear of bulk when you tuck it or wear it over waistbands.
  • Long sleeve profile. The sleeves run full length to the wrist in a smooth, light gauge. The yarn has enough give to let you push them up the forearm without losing their shape.
  • Care and maintenance. Turn the top inside out before washing in cold water on a gentle cycle. Lay it flat across a drying rack so the weight of wet water does not stretch the shoulders.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
