Womens Long Sleeve Shirts Casual Dressy Tops Lightweight Clothes

We knit this lightweight layer with a clean crew neckline and long sleeves that run straight to the wrist. Small decorative buttons sit along the shoulder line to break up the smooth surface. The lower hem finishes short, resting higher on the waistline rather than past the hips.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Shoulder button detail. We set a row of small buttons across the shoulder seam. They rest flat against the collarbone, adding a distinct point of focus across an otherwise smooth crew neck.
  • Short straight hem. The body drops straight down from the underarms without tapering. Because the hem finishes short, it pairs cleanly with high-rise waistbands without bunching or gathering extra fabric.
  • Fine gauge knit. We selected a smooth, lightweight yarn blended with stretch for this red knit. It has a soft hand directly against bare skin and holds its shape through a full day of movement.
  • Washing and care. Machine wash this top on a gentle cycle in cold water using a mesh bag to protect the shoulder buttons. Lay it flat across a drying rack so the knit dries without stretching out.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
