Womens Lounge Set Two 2 Piece

We knit this two piece set as a matching pair in deep navy yarn. The top sits away from the body with a plain crew neckline and raglan sleeves, while the trousers pull on with an elastic waist and fall wide to the ankle. Contrast piping outlines the seams across both pieces.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Roomy top and wide leg. The top hangs loose with room through the chest and lands near the hip. Below, the trousers fall straight from a flexible elastic waistband into a wide hem that moves freely as you walk.
  • Raglan sleeve construction. We shaped the top with raglan seams that slant directly from the collar to the underarm. Ribbed cuffs gather the sleeves slightly at the wrist so the fabric stays put when pushed up.
  • Contrast seam piping. Both pieces are finished with subtle contrast piping set into the seams and outer borders. Knitted from the same navy dye lot, the top and trousers match precisely in tone and surface texture.
  • Washing and care. Hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent, or select a delicate machine cycle. Press out excess water between clean towels and lay both pieces flat to dry to preserve their shape.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
