What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crewneck and cropped hem. The top is built with a simple round crewneck band and finishes high at a cropped hem. The body hangs loose rather than pulling in at the waist, giving the knit room to move.
  • Long sleeves. Full-length sleeves balance the shorter length of the top and the shorts. The yarn carries enough natural give to push the sleeves up the forearm without losing shape at the cuff.
  • Matching knit shorts. The shorts are knitted from the exact same dye lot as the top for an even shade of hot pink. A functional drawstring waist secures the fit without pinching across the midsection.
  • Washing and yarn care. Machine wash cold with similar colors on a gentle cycle. Tumble dry on low heat or lay both pieces flat to dry so the knit retains its original length and saturated pink tone.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
