What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crewneck and long sleeves. The top is built with a simple round crew neckline that lies flat against the collarbone. Long sleeves fall straight from a dropped shoulder, giving the upper body a relaxed drape that sits away from the torso.
  • Cropped boxy hem. We cut the top short so the hem rests near the waistband of the matching shorts. The open cut lets air move through, while the square silhouette balances the shorter length of the bottoms.
  • Drawstring knit shorts. Knitted from the same dye lot, the shorts feature an elasticated waistband threaded with a functional cord. They pull on easily, sitting comfortably at the waist with room through the leg openings for easy movement.
  • Washing and care. Machine wash cold with similar colours on a gentle cycle to preserve the deep navy tone. We suggest using a mesh wash bag and tumbling dry on low, or laying the pieces flat to dry.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
