Womens Lounge Two 2 Piece Short Sets Summer Outfits

We knit this two-piece set in a solid red yarn with enough stretch to hold its shape through regular wear. The top is cut roomy to hang away from the torso, balanced by a shorter hem and matching shorts with an adjustable drawstring waist. It works as a full pair or split into separates.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Roomy crew top. The long-sleeve top features a classic round crew neck and dropped shoulders. It hangs straight and sits away from the body, finishing in a shorter hem that meets the rise of the shorts.
  • Matching knit shorts. We knit the shorts from the same yarn lot to keep the red shade uniform. An elasticated waistband with a soft knit drawstring lets you adjust the hold at the waist.
  • Light gauge yarn. The knit is smooth and lightweight against bare skin. It stretches easily as you move around the house, then recovers cleanly without bagging out at the seat or elbows.
  • Washing and care. Machine wash cold with like colors to protect the red dye. Tumble dry on a low setting or lay the pieces flat across a drying rack so the knit keeps its shape.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
