What we would tell you in the studio
- Crew neck closure. A tidy round collar leads into a placket of matching dyed buttons. Fasten it to the top for a flat, clean front or leave it unbuttoned over a base layer.
- Cropped straight hem. The hem finishes short near the natural waistline. The body falls straight from the underarm, resting lightly against the waist rather than gripping it with tight ribbing.
- Lightweight fine knit. We chose a smooth, fine gauge yarn blend with natural give that packs small and resists creases. The navy blue shade is deep and even throughout the knit.
- Cold wash care. Gently hand wash in cold water or dry clean to protect the surface of the knit. Press out water with a dry towel and lay the cardigan flat to dry.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
