What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crew neck top. The sweater is built with a simple rounded neckline and long sleeves that fall loose along the arm. The cut stays wide through the body so it sits away from base layers.
  • Drawstring knit trousers. We shape the trousers with a flexible waistband anchored by an adjustable tie. The legs drop straight down from the hip, finished with functional side pockets knitted directly into the seams.
  • Muted khaki shade. The khaki colour is a neutral earth tone dyed evenly across both pieces. It pairs readily with white canvas sneakers, dark wool coats, or worn separately with denim.
  • Laundering the set. Wash both pieces together on a gentle cycle in cold water to keep the colour uniform. Lay them flat on a towel to dry so the waistband and knit cuffs keep their shape.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
