What we would tell you in the studio
- High shawl collar. The neck rises into a folded mock structure that sits close around the back of the neck. It provides extra warmth across the throat and stays upright when worn open.
- Long open front cut. The body is knitted with room through the chest and waist, falling straight to a long hemline. It slips over heavy pullovers or fine tops without pulling at the armholes.
- Straight long sleeves. We knit the sleeves long to cover the wrists, finishing with a tidy edge. The extra width through the bicep leaves room for long-sleeved base layers underneath.
- Washing and flat drying. Hand wash in cold water with a gentle detergent and press the water out without wringing. Lay the wet coat flat on a clean towel so the heavy knit keeps its length.

Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
