What we would tell you in the studio
- Ribbed coat gauge. We chose a dense rib stitch that provides body and steady drape across the long front panels. The knit is thick enough to hold its shape as a light coat without feeling stiff.
- Open neckline and front. The collar sits clean around the neck before dropping into a straight, button-free front. Because it hangs open, the piece layers easily over collared shirts, crew necks or heavier winter tops.
- Long sleeve balance. The sleeves run long down to the wrist to balance the generous cut through the torso. Ribbed cuffs give the wrists a gentle hold so you can push the sleeves up if needed.
- Washing and shape care. Hand wash in cold water or run a gentle machine cycle without bleach. Reshape the damp cardigan and lay it flat on a drying rack to keep the heavy ribbed knit from stretching out.

- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
