What we would tell you in the studio
- High neck profile. The neck sits upright to cut the draft, standing as a clean collar line. It stays in place without rolling or collapsing, whether left open or held closed.
- Roomy open drape. We gave this piece extra width through the torso so it hangs clear of your base layers. The open front falls in vertical lines down to the hem.
- Sleeve and hem reach. Long sleeves extend past the wrist to meet gloves or bare hands. The straight lower edge finishes around the knee, adding weight so the body of the knit settles evenly.
- Care and shape. Hand wash in cold water with a gentle detergent and press the water out with a towel. Lay it flat across a drying rack to keep the shoulders and hem from stretching.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
