What we would tell you in the studio

  • Button front top. The long sleeve top is knitted with a clean v-neckline and a straight button placket down the front. It falls straight past the waist without clinging or pulling across the chest.
  • Trouser waist and pockets. We built the trousers with a wide elastic waistband anchored by an adjustable drawstring. Deep side pockets sit flat along the hip seams to hold small items without sagging.
  • Yarn drape and hand. This fine-gauge knit pairs smooth softness with natural fluid drape. The fabric stretches easily as you move, keeping a light feel against bare skin while holding its shape.
  • Care and washing. Wash this set on a gentle cycle in cold water with mild detergent. Lay both pieces flat on a drying rack so the knit dries evenly and the waistband retains its shape.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
