What we would tell you in the studio

  • Buttoned v-neck top. The top has an open v-neckline framed by a secure front button closure. It cut runs straight through the body, ending cleanly at the hip line without pulling tight across the chest.
  • Straight lounge trousers. We built the trousers with a wide elastic waist and a matching drawstring tie for an easy fit. The legs drop straight down, with two functional side pockets set into the side seams.
  • Smooth stretch knit. The fine knit yarn combines a soft drape with lasting resilience. It yields across the shoulders and knees as you move, keeping its shape through quiet mornings and evenings indoors.
  • Washing and care. Machine wash this set on a gentle cycle with mild detergent. Lay both pieces flat on a clean surface or towel to dry, preserving the length of the trousers and the shape of the top.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
